Its quite evident from the title that I am going to talk about monthly favorites in this post today. October has been super busy with days getting shorter and we had been affected by bug so cold, cough and temperature during first half of the month for myself, son and dear hubby. Glad we are back on track now and its Diwali period so lots of positivity and happiness.
We celebrated day before Diwali with my European friend and her partner. They came over for dinner and we chatted till midnight. She is an old friend of mine and I was so impressed by her talking a lot about Indian Culture, festivals and particularly Diwali. She has always been very curious to know about different cultures and we were very happy to know more about Catholic culture too. Whenever we all meet, time just flies so quickly and we have so much to talk. And OMG she loves Indian food and eats more spicy that I do..lol. She will smile if she will read this post :).
Anyways, let’s jump to the faves of October 🙂
Colourpop blush | Between the Sheets | $8
Colourpop describes this as a mid-tone beige pink in a matte finish, be a lady in the streets or a freak in the sheets. Its a muted pink coral shade more on the pinkier side which looks absolutely stunning on most skin tones. I prefer pink blush shades in colder months so I think it will be firm favorite in next coming months as well. The pigmentation and longevity of colourpop blushes is amazing. These apply best with fingertips and have cream to powder finish.
Colourpop Eyeshadow | Sunset Blvd | $5
This is a part of Kaepop super shock eyeshadow set. Colourpop describes this shade as a warm golden bronze in a Pearlized Finish. Its a medium gold shade that has beautiful sheen. It applies nicely with fingertips like most colourpop cheek products and eyeshadows. I like that this gold is wearable even during the day and is not too much in the eyes kind of shade. These eyeshadows have great pigmentation and wears over 8 years easily plus there is no fall out with these whatsoever!
Hourglass Ambient lighting edit – Surreal Light Holiday 2016 Palette | £69 | Post here
I bought this palette for my birthday and this gives me such an amazing sophisticated finish. The setting powder is great and gives me soft focus kind of look. Blush and strobing powder are great for soft flush and lit from within kind of look. The bronzer and the lighter blush do not show up much on me but I do mix them with brighter blush to use them. The powders stay on and look fresh even after 6-7 hours of wear. This palette is living up to the hype even if its on the pricier side. Check out the swatches on my post.
Diorskin Nude Air Luminiser | £39 | post here
Dior Nude Air Luminiser is a light beige powder with warm as well as slightly pink undertones and ofcourse luminous sheen. According to Dior, this powder is as light as a breeze, featuring a formula highly concentrated with illuminating pigments in a universal shade that can be adapted to any skin tone.
The powder is very finely milled to give that perfect radiantly luminous complexion that looks natural. The texture of product is very soft but not powdery, stays firm in the pan and tranfers nicely on to the skin…like melts to the skin without emphasizing on pores or texture on your skin.
Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon eyeshadow stick | Gold Digger | £19
These eyeshadow pencils are meant to enhance your eye colour. Using clever colour tricks and light flex technology, these eye shadow pencils can transform the natural colour of your eyes and enhance their look. These are infused with synthetic sapphire, a gemstone with natural soft-focus powers, this long-lasting, paraben-free formula glides on easily and stays in place for up to 10 hours. I have tested this for over 8 years and it stays put. This pencil in Gold Digger is a seductive gilded-khaki that will enhance green eyes. I do not have green eyes but it still looks amazing so I highly recommend checking this shade.
Bourjois 123 perfect cc cream – Beige Clair | £9.99
This is such a great coverage cc cream. I do not need to use any concealer when I wear this base. Its 3 colour correcting pigments give a fresh and luminous result with SPF 15 and 24hr hydration.
- Apricot for anti-fatigue
- Green for anti-redness
- White for anti-dark spots
It is very light weight and glides onto skin smoothly. I prefer this on day to day basis and it gives a dewy healthy finish to my skin which I absolutely love. I bought the shade Beige Clair from store and this is a tad bit light on me but it blends and looks gorgeous without being ashy. I can’t find the same shade online and most websites have 4 shades but I guess this is similar to Light Beige. If you’re able to find Beige Clair online, do let me know please. I need to buy a backup.
Urban Decay Naked Skin Complete Coverage weightless concealer – Medium Dark Warm | £17.50
This concealer has medium to buildable coverage and is very light weight on the skin. This does not look cake-y under eyes. If you have oily skin, Urban decay base products might oxidise a little bit so I would suggest a shade lighter only if you have oily skin. If you have deep crease under your eyes, make sure you set this with a finely milled powder to avoid creasing. The shade Medium Dark warm matches my skintone so it works for any pigmentation around nose or any mark but for slight highlighted look I like to mix this with Maybelline age rewind concealer in Nude. You can also get lighter shade from UD and use that for highlighting. Shade Medium Light Neutral works perfect for highlighting if you have Medium skintone.
Sukin Skincare Sensitive skin cleansing gel | £8.10
Sukin Skincare is a herbal Australian skincare brand. This cleanser is soap free and is blended with a complexion-boosting mix of green tea, soothing chamomile, cucumber and avocado oil. This cleansing gel perfectly purifies and cleanses sensitive skin and is gentle enough to use on even the most delicate skin. The cleanser works to remove impurities and excess oils from the skin without drying or ripping off the natural oils from your skin. If you have TK Maxx store near you, you might get Sukin Skincare products at discounted prices otherwise Look Fantastic have various discount codes or bundle deals like 3 for 2 going on most of the times.
*The Ordinary Advanced Retinoid 2% by Deciem | £8
I was sent this Advanced Retinoid by the wonderful team at Deciem as a gift and I didn’t had any hopes from this as one of the products I tried from The Ordinary brand had broke me out (I will disclose that in a separate post). This product OMG is superb. This formulation combines two forms of next-generation retinoid actives in a combined concentration of 2% by weight: These two actives are:
a) Solubilized Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate is a highly-advanced form of retinoid which is, in fact, a non-prescription ester of all-trans direct retinoic acid that offers a multi-fold better effect against signs of ageing than retinol, retinyl palmitate and nearly all other forms of non-prescription retinoid;
b) a sustained-delivery form of pure retinol in a protective capsule system which supports both the delivery and the effect of Solubilized Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate.
This has given a new definition to skincare really. I have been doing double cleansing and double masking but double Serums…seriously??? Yes, I use this before my regular serum. Mostly, I like to use this under Vitamin E or plumping serums. Highly recommend checking this out.
