Weather is really hot and we all fear about our makeup sliding off our skin. Thankfully there are few new products in the market that are meant for summer and will stick to your skin in this warm weather. One of these is the new launch from Urban Decay. Yes, I am talking about their Naked One & Done Hybrid Complexion Perfector | £25 for 40ml a part of Urban Decay Summer 2016 Collection which is currently all over Instagram.
If you follow me on Instagram, you probably know that I do not change my base products frequently just because I have sensitive skin and some foundations oxidise on me while others cling to any dry patches I might have on that particular day. Having said that, I was quite bored with using same products over and over again so I wanted to try some new base and the skin perfector caught my attention.
Packaging: This comes in a squeezy sleek, metallic tube with champagne and gunmetal ombré artwork. The convenient pump hygienic and leaves less chances of wastage of product.
Urban Decay describes this as a one step and you’re done. You do not need anything else with this base which is true. This instantly blurs imperfections and even out skin tone—for beautifully perfected, ultra definition skin.
Its more like an oil-free lighter base just to even tone your complexion and is not meant for heavy coverage. If you suffer from acne scarring or heavy pigmentation , this may not be for you. This provides moisture and spf protection of SPF20 and has sheer coverage that can be built up to medium. I do feel I do not need to wear concealers and correctors as my dark circles are less noticeable than wearing any other base. This base conceals out any minor redness or darkness which is what I prefer for day to day wear.
This hybrid complexion cream combines the benefits of a sheer foundation with the coverage of a tinted moisturizer.
Longevity: So I have tested the longevity of this skin perfector by wearing it with as well as without different primers and I am impressed! It does stay for long and looks as nice as when applied first. I did not use any setting powder or any kind of fixing sprays and also went out in the sun for few hours. My base didn’t slide off or became patchy on my skin. This stayed on my skin for more than 8 hours without primer or setting powder. Thumbs up for longevity!
Long term benefit claims: Urban Decay claims that One & Done is loaded with so many nourishing ingredients (including peptides, vitamins and moisturizers), you’ll be tempted to skip your skin treatment. Gatuline® Radiance—derived from the wu zhu yu plant—improves the look of radiance, tone and texture. And SPF 20 protects against sun damage. Over time, pores appear smaller and skin appears noticeably firmer and more radiant.
I have not used this base long enough to report any long term benefits in terms of any improvement in my skin tone etc but I will get back to you after I have used this for a while. But if you’re looking for a light base for summers, give this a go 🙂
Before buying this base, I read one of the bloggers mentioning about this oxidizing on her skin but I did not notice any oxidation. Mac liquid foundations do oxidize on me specially in summers. Secondly, products with SPF might flashback during night photography but this product seems to be okay and does not flash back. That may be due to the fact that SPF is low in this complexion perfector.
This did not break me out either and just to remind you I have combination (mostly dry and dehydrated ) skin which is sensitive as well. All in all I love the formula, light to medium coverage and blurring imperfections properties but I wish SPF was higher. I like to wear a moisturizer with higher SPF underneath or use an SPF mist as a final step, especially for days when I am heading to a beach or when the sun is harsh.
Rating: 4.2/5 It’s a great product and is worth trying if you’re looking for a light to medium coverage base.
Let me know if you’re going to buy this product or if you want me to check any similar base. I love your comments and feedback. Do leave your Instagram or blog address below so I can connect with you.
Loads of love,
