Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt Review

Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt Cologne review on Ms Tantrum Blog

Jo Malone is known for their lovely fragrances. After falling in love with Pomegranate Noir, I decided to add another Jo Malone fragrance to my collection. This time its Wood Sage and Sea Salt which is a unisex cologne.

This fragrance was created by Master Perfumer Christine Nagel who was given postcards of English coast for inspiration. After developing the fragrance, she described the motive of chosen notes.  The salt element, “was a key departure,” she tells us, “the salty taste sensation is very familiar to us all, but in a perfume it has to be more subtle.” The other key note for Nagel was sage – another rarity in perfume and usually the save of aromatic fragrances – for a woodiness and some “interest and sensuality.” Jo Malone describes this as Lively, spirited and totally joyful fragrance.

‘Escape the everyday along the windswept shore. Waves breaking white, the air fresh with sea salt and spray. Alive with the mineral scent of the rugged cliffs. Mingling with the woody earthiness of sage. ‘

Top Notes

Ambrette Seeds – Their textural quality wraps the fragrance with an aura of sophistication.

Heart Notes

Sea Salt – The crunchy nature of sea salt brings both texture and a sense of freshness.

Base Notes

Sage – Woody with earthy , aromatic tones that bring a natural depth.

This cologne was created with the intention to evoke the feeling of  pleasure, freedom and escape into nature, inspired by the unique character and quality of British beach.

The fragrance can be layered with other fruity or spice fragrances and works really well with Lime Basil and Mandarin or Nectarine Blossom & Honey eau de colognes.

The cologne is available in 30ml as well as 100ml and can be purchased from Notino.

Overall thoughts: This cologne is a great option for those who like light fruity scents and stay away from strong overpowering fragrances. The staying power is less than other Jo Malone fragrances as I hear from those who have tried many. As compared to Pomegranate Noir, this one is more of a day scent for me while Pomegranate Noir is an evening perfume. I really enjoy wearing this subtle fragrance for the day time or for work. I highly recommend checking this out as you can’t go wrong with Jo Malone. Notino currently have great offers on various luxury fragrances for Black Friday.

Until next time
